Many of our online research databases and search tools (Primo, EBSCOhost, ProQuest, and others) will list their search results according to what their ranking algorithms think will be the most useful to you. This computer-driven analysis is called relevance ranking. Many databases will also give you the option of sorting by publication date, listing the newest materials first or the oldest first. Some offer other options like sorting by alphabetical order of title or author.
